Calzona in the finale broke my heart. I’m interested to see how their relationship unfolds and evolves in season 10 and how the writers plan to heal them. Shonda has said before that they’re MFEO, so I have no doubt they will end up together.
My only issue are some of the things I’ve read regarding the final fight between them. I’m coming at this as a person who loves both Callie and Arizona, so this is as objective a view as you can get from a Calzona shipper, in my opinion. Yes, Callie is my favourite character. But Arizona is the reason I started watching the show in the first place because she seemed to be my perfect woman. That being said, here we go.
I HAVE to say this: A lot of people wanted Callie to be angry and lash out at Arizona. And thought her reaction wasn’t big enough. But since this moment in 9x01, Callie has fought like hell to get her wife back and get their life back. She’s played the bad guy. She’s cried and screamed with Arizona and she’s also kept quiet and took it. She’s given all she can give. Put all her energy into this woman and this marriage only to lose Arizona anyway, along the way. She is exhausted and right there she just gives up. She’s defeated and she’s got nothing left to give.
